On June 9th, Sim, a resident of Queensway Long Term Care Home, will be fulfilling his lifetime wish of riding a fire truck during the Hensall Parade. Sim, who has Down Syndrome, carefully watches over Hensall’s Fire Department from his residence at Queensway Long Term Care Home, which is located across the street from the firehall.
As part of Queensway Long Term Care Home’s “Bridge to Dreams” program, Sim has become an honorary firefighter, and was generously given his very own Hensall Fire Department jacket and replica radio.
Bridge to Dreams is a resident-centred initiative developed by Southbridge Care Homes and is being implemented at Queensway Long Term Care Homes. Sim is the first resident at Queensway to have his dream fulfilled under this program.
Please help us get the message out to local businesses and residents to decorate the parade route with yellow and blue ribbons (for Down Syndrome awareness) and signs in support of Sim. Our hope is that the local community will rally around Sim and share in his lifetime wish.
